I am working on Macintosh video editing equipment (Avid) and to write subtitles we need too use Arabic window TTF font (ae_khalid made by http://www.arabeyes.org/project.php?proj=Khotot) but this is Window TTF font.
As you know the arabic window TTF font are not usable on macintosh because the ligature table is not in the same format than in Apple advanced typography (AAT I try with Apple font tools (for OS9 and for OSX) to solve this problem but documentation of Apple font tool is very poor. Does anybody knows if any converter is available to do this task |

Hi<div align="left">
There is no simple way of converting Windows fonts to OSX compatible fonts . The only way to this is to add AAT Specific table to each of this fonts by using Apple's fonts tools, whic are not user friendly at all as you have noticed too. One of the members of our user group, Iranian Macintosh User Group, has provided us with up to fifty high quality Arabic/Persian fonts, all with ATT and Uicode support. These fonts are available for free at our webpage. The address will be added in the end of this message. As to Avid I am not sure that this program supports Arabic script at all, but I am sure that Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Motion and Apple LiveType(in some extent) do support Arabic script. So may be it is time for you to convert to FCP. This has been tested by one of our members who is a professional film maker and pro user of FCP. The address for fonts download: http://irmug.org/portal/modules.php?op=mod...wdownload&cid=1 brows to the page above and choose قلمهای مناسب برای سیستم 10.3 good luck Al_Irani</div> |
