they difference is obviouse . virtual pc lets u run windows only.. this one lets u run different versions of windows and also multiple versions of lunix . remember virtual pc os now owned by microsoft . while this one is an open source .

أن عندي البرنامجين ألحين , الفيرتول بي سي أبضا يفتح اصدارات مختلفة من ويندوز وتقدر تثبت أكثر من اصدار في نفس الجهاز أنا مثبت ويندوز NT , وتقدر ايضا تثبت اصدارات لينكس , اذا الفرق الوحيد هو ان هذا البرنامج OPEN SOURCE

في فرق في السرعة مثلا؟

Its free . open source, and it abit faster than virtual pc. never tried linux on virtual pc . since microsoft bought virtual pc from connectix

Just a note on Qemu

I have Tried Qemu on MacBook Pro and windows 98
It works well and currently is the only way to run windows on
intel Macs
Boschs emulator also works
NOTE WINTEL are not legitimate and DONT buy from them
We are wishing that vmware will back Mac OSX
but since they haven't commented I am sure they will release
a Mac OSX version

The problem is that it is emulation
so the processor (only one processor out of the two) is running 95% - 100%
even when doing nothing
Qemu has option to pause emulator while in background
but with processor running 100% fan is also running on a laptop that
can drain the battery

performance is excellent apart from the above
I would preffer virtualization or vmware on OSX
That would be the best as it will eliminate above problem

Hows the battery life on the MacBook pro ? running osx ofcourse

Sorry for the delay in commenting on the battery
I was doing a lot as you can see with installing win98 on qemu then installing windows XP natively
But the battery life is arround 3:50 to 4 hrs
with wireless on and brightness just above 50%
not too bad but would preffer better
my old 12 inch obviosly could do better
Other isssue with battery charging from 0 to 90+ is fast like usual
but last few percentage can take a while esp when it reaches 100% it will take another 15 min for charger to turn green or even longer
I didn't time it but it seems a long time compared to previous laptop
anyway thats my summary on battery usage

thanks zmedic for the info. too bad that apple might come up with new laptops as early as early april (17 inch MacBook Pro and the new iBook "MacBook". ) I'd wait to see the next revisions of the laptops . they might solve some of the problems with the 1st Macbook pro. thanks again for your effort and info. keep up the good work .

I totaly agree with you, if your not in a hurry wait for rest of Maclaptop range
esp since thin touch screen laptop without a keyboard is probably coming out soon
esp with the new patents apple has been getting recently
Unfortunately I couldn't wait , I have all my info in my laptop and need it on a daily basis
one month without the laptop pushed me back in my studies alot
I am happy with the laptop, and it was either that or PowerBook or God forbid windows laptop
at least now IF and that a big if something new comes and I want to upgrade resell value is still high
if I went with Powerbook I would be stuck
if I went with windows laptop it would be in the bin
or I would jump out the window
