arabic support problems

salam 3laimkum all

finally i got my MacBook .. actualy i have bought it from amazon.cm not from my local dealer and it doesn't have the required arabic support that might be available in the arabic version

the problem is that i can't read many arabic websites ... even mac4arab.com .... the arabic letters are separated and cant read any thing

i went to view ..
text encoding
arabic windows and other .. but the problem doesnt get fixed

is there any other way of fixing it?

Alaikum assalam,

This is a common issue Murshid, so don't worry here we will get it fixed.

I presume you had Microsoft Office installed. MS office installs a set of fonts that some of them corrupts Arabic display.

Follow these steps to fix it. In your own account > Library > Fonts, delete "Arial" and "Times New Roman" fonts as these are the culprits.
Don't worry you still have another copies of these two fonts elsewhere.

Now try opening an Arabic web page.

i tried removing those two fonts .. i can see other ttf files as well but i kept them .. i then closed safari and opened it again

but the problem is still there ...

any other colutions bro?

I would suggest we stay in the same course of removing fonts. We have gone through this path many times with our own machines and others.

I presume you removed none other than Arial and Times New Roman only (no harm in other TT fonts) those where only in your account not under the HD or System Libraries MS Office installs its buggy fonts in user account rather

Now if you want to go further in setting up your Arabic which may not be related to the display issue on the web. Open System Preferences then click on the International icon. Hit the Language button and then click on Edit button underneath to add Arabic from the drop list. You may un-tick unwanted languages while there

Click on the Input Menu on top of the International Window to access Arabic Keyboard that shows Green Crescent; tick to select it

Now you should be able to type Arabic in Text Edit for example.

True Type fonts are not evil mate, even in Offset printing now we use them, I just don't want you to move necessary fonts for System use so my advice is to leave them in their place
