how to make a backup file for desktop appearance??

hi guys i wanna know if there is a way to make a backup file for my desktop appearance before i upgrade to LEOPARD, i have a customized icons and i used i trail of a program to change it, coz i wanted to change all the icons on my mac and it was hard to find this program.

oh one more thing am i gonna lose it, "the appearance not the icons itself", when i upgrade to LEOPARD. i mean is gonna be restored to the default icons??

I'm not sure if this is gonna work with Leopard but i used to use an app called File Buddy, where you can install new system and keep all your customized settings and files, I think it is an automatic process. Sorry, it's been a long time since I last needed to do such thing, maybe that's why I tend to keep with standard elements just to avoid the hurdle of going through this every time I upgrade.

maybe u r right but this is not just an upgrade this is a huge step.. do miss it
n regarding my Q i talked to apple store ppl n it seems that amma lose all my setting n there ain't no way to keep it

I can tell you for a Fact folders such as Documents and Applications wukk default to new leopard icons
But custom folders such as one that I have for presentations retained the look

The Desktop will be retained after an upgrade

So out of the folders you have on your desktop probably the hard disk will revert to leopard default

you can keep the same look by creating an empty folder then opening your mac harddrive with a right click system prefference click on the miniture icon then CTRL C
then go to new empty folder do the same except Click CTRL V

Once you install Leopard you can revert the HD icon back to what you have by repeating the same procedure
